Highlights from the SponGES team at the DSBS 2018 (Deep-Sea Biology Symposium – Monterey) to present part of the work done within the project. Karin Steffen presented a talk entitled: “Investigating sponge microbiome and metabolome along a depth gradient“, Ana Colaço presented a poster entitled “Characterization of deep-sea sponge ecological function in the Azores comparison with other North Atlantic Banks“, and Christopher K. Pham presented a talk entitled: “Sponge removal by bottom trawling in the Flemish Cap area (northwest Atlantic): implications for ecosystem functioning“. A joint SponGES/ATLAS poster entitled “By-catch of deep-sea sponges by bottom trawls and bottom longlines on the Northeast Atlantic” was also presented. See you next time!!
