Why sponge grounds matter, and a little history of Vazella grounds

with No Comments

Our new infographic takes from the original “Why sponge grounds matter” one, offering concrete answers straight from the SponGES research (and who doesn’t love Vazella sponges, by the way?). The new infographic is based on these two recent papers: Beazley et al. (2018) Predicted distribution of the glass sponge Vazella pourtalesi on the Scotian Shelf and its persistence in the face of climatic variability. PloS ONE 13(10):e0205505 and Hawkes et al. (2019) Glass sponge grounds on the Scotian Shelf and their associated biodiversity. Mar Ecol Prog Ser 614:91-109. Both papers are Open Access.
